1880

Steam tugboat Company

The "Steam tugboat Company" was founded by the brothers Carlo and Angelo Panfido who had and worked with small steam tugboats. The company dedicated itself to maritime and river transports.

1903

RR Panfido & C

In 1991, Carlo's son, Emilio Panfido took control of the Company and in 1928 found the company RR Panfido & C. At this point the company has in its fleet 7 tugboats.

1920

Steam tugboat Company

In the following ten years the fleet undergoes a substantial remodeling. For the first time we see the application of a steel hull in the fleet, the comany christened the tugboat Titanus.

1940

The new Panfido

The outbreak of WWII caused the distruction of the company's fleet, since it was used and thereafter sunk during the war. Once the war resumed Panfido was forced to restart its activities from scratch.

1950

New Services

In this moment of its history, the company's business focused on port traffic, on recovery activity of war wrecks and on towing services on high seas.

1960

New Investments

Since there was an increase in port activites and traffic, in the mid 60's, Panfido moved towards making new investments in order to upgrade and ameliorate the company's fleet.

1970

The first ocean going tugboat

While continuously expanding, at the beginning of 1971 Panfido & C. launched its first oceanic going tugboat, christened Giuseppe Panfido.

1980

The first Issues

In this harsh economic period for the company, a large amount of tugboats had to be sold to other companies and many others had to be disarmed.

1990

Calderan managment

Panfido & C. S.r.l. aquires a new owner and CEO Mr. Giovanni Calderan. At the beginning of 1995, the company possesses a fleet of 12 tugboats, of which 7 with a traditional propeller , and 5 operated with Voith-Schneider propulsion. The chimneys are now painted white and present a noticible bright orange "CMV" logo on it.

2000

Renwed Power

In 2000 two new giants are introduced to the fleet: Lourdes C. e Marina M C. that present a bollard pull of over 50 tons.

2007

Exampasion

The company keeps expanding thanks to the aquisition of the company Adriatic Towage.

2015 - 2017

Partnership and improvemets

In these years Panfido embarks in a partnership with Rimorchiatori Napoletani. It also upgrades its fleet by adding 4 new tugboats, 2 of which are the biggest in Europe: Giovanni Calderan and Carla Baruzzi, 40 meters in lenght and 9000 HP of power. The other 2, bought in 2017, called Edda and Elma are 36.50 meters and 7180 HP of power.

2020

Future project

Project Poseidon II co-finced by Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union.

ABOUT US

CMV- Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido is the concessionaire of the towing services in the ports of Venice and Chioggia. While always putting safety first, the company assures assistance to all ships and floating units operating in the lagoon, the Adriatic and in the Mediterranean Sea. The company, furthermore, is also qualified to work and operate internationally.

OUR COLLABORATIONS

In 2007 Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido & C. S.r.l. embarked in a Joint Venture with Smit called Adriatic Towage. The Joint Venture possesses 4 twin tugs with Schottel propulsion with power equal to 6300 HP. Adriatic Towage has been operating since 2008 in providing assistance and towing services to Adriatic LNG, company that has a regasification terminal at 17 miles South-East of the coast of Chioggia.

Since 2015 Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido & C. S.r.l. has become a shareholder of Rimorchiatori Napoletani. Rimorchiatori Napoletani’s administrative structure is articulated and organized with a composition more suitable for a big company that has the objective of performing with efficiency all the services required by the Maritime Authority and by all the charterers.
